Assurance of Salvation

By on Oct 8, 2011 in Bible Study, Blog | 0 comments

Truth gets attacked from every side, whether it be about who Jesus is, what He did on the cross, the Bible, authority of scripture or even whether there is such a thing as certainty of truth itself. You don’t have to look very far to find those who will act as instruments when it comes to attacking truth, infact, you don’t have to look at all, they will probably find you! That is exactly what happened recently with a guy who was 100% convinced that there was no such thing as assurance of salvation since scripture tell us that we have to endure in order to be saved. If you don’t endure, you don’t receive salvation. What I find interesting is that someone can come along and pluck out a few scriptures to ‘prove’ one doctrine yet ignore the rest of what scripture says in relation to a particular topic. So, for example, Jesus said that whoever believes in...

Who is Abraham’s Seed?

By on May 17, 2011 in General | 0 comments

There are some things in the Bible that we hear many times but never really give much thought to. When I read about God saying to Abraham that all nations would be blessed through him, it was one of those things that I had heard of, but never really knew what it meant or studied to find out. The subject of Abraham’s seed came up recently on a forum and it was being used to justify universalism. The person was trying to say that since God said all nations would be blessed through Abraham, those who are not blessed whilst they live on the earth, must get their blessing when they die since it is not possible for God to lie. Well, I knew that wasn’t biblical, so I went to find out what God meant when he said to Abraham that all nations would be blessed through him. This is always when I go to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to help me to understand the scriptures. Who better to...

Beware of False Teachers

I had an interesting dream in the early hours of this morning, it was quite vivid and I still remember much of it… The dream (from what I remember) started with some knowledge that Moses (and Abraham, although I don’t remember much of Abraham in the dream) was coming to visit the Church (no specific church.. just church). There was a great excitement about this and people were gathering together for the arrival. Once I arrived at the Church I noticed that most of the tables were occupied (tables in Church?) so I grabbed one from a stack that was at one of the walls. I ended up putting my table at the front (not sure of any relevance here re. tables). The leaders were familiar to me; someone who is a trusted teacher of the word, and some of the faces I saw were also familiar.. everyone seemed excited and was waiting with great expectation for the arrival of Moses. When the...

Is Truth Absolute or Relative?

By on Feb 28, 2011 in Blog, General | 0 comments

One of the things God instilled in me over the last year is that you need to know the truth in order to recognise when it is not being taught. With a lesson like that it creates a firm foundation that when truth is questioned, immediately you recognise that doubt is being placed on truth and the alarm bells start ringing. If someone places doubt on truth, what happens to truth? You already know something isn’t quite right since truth is absolute by definition. Either something is, or it isn’t. The Lord of course wasn’t just refering to everyday truths, but biblical truths. If you compare people from all over the world, there would probably be a lesser percentage of atheists in comparison to those who believe that there is something more than us. They may not be sure what it is, but there are a vast majority of people around the world seeking for the truth of what it...

Is the Bible True?

I listened to a message from Bob Utley last night regarding the authenticity of the Bible and how it is the only inspired and holy book given by God. This is already what I believe.. infact, not just believe but know, but it still amazes me how many Christians even question the authenticity of the bible nevermind people who are non-christians. Bob utley offers some evidence to show how the bible remains true and inspired and how the translation from the original language did not take anything away from Gods word to us. Predictive Prophesy There are many prophesies in the Bible, but some try to say that when Jesus came in the flesh he  manipulated things in order for prophesy to be fulfilled. Yet even looking at his birth we can see prophesy fulfilled where there is no way it could have been manipulated by Jesus since he was not yet born. Micah 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who...
