Walking In The Spirit

By on Mar 3, 2010 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill (give into) the lust (desires) of the flesh (yourself). For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Galatians 5:16-18 I’m just getting myself round to really studying the bible again and this was the scripture that I was given this morning. It’s amazing how we can flip through scripture and scan over things and miss out on so much! Taking a look at the above scripture we could read it and think, “Yep, I need to stick close to God and not do wrong stuff” and then go off and make a cuppa and not think much of it again, I’ve done that plenty of times too! However, this morning was different, I wanted to get as much out of that scripture as I could because I knew it was something God...

Psalm 34:9-14

Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Don’t you sometimes wish you could imprint the word of the Lord on your brain so you can remember it when you need to? Infact, I think that’s one of the things the Holy Spirit does, reminds us of Gods word just at the right time. The problem comes when we have probably wandered away from the path God sets before us, and we don’t hear Him so clearly anymore. None of us are immune from this. This is why it is so important for us to remain close to God, because without Him, it...

Psalm 73 v 21-28

“When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you. Yet I am always with you;  you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterwards you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Do you not sometimes think that what you read in the Bible describes what is going on in your life right now? I don’t know about you, but if I start to struggle in my walk with God, I tend to rebel because I don’t like how I feel. Instead of throwing myself...

Meeting The Holy Spirit

By on Aug 31, 2005 in General | 2 comments

Wow! What a title! Meeting The Holy Spirit, but that is exactly what happened on my first known encounter with The Holy Spirit. It was awesome in one sense, and a bit nerve-racking at the same time. Why? Because it was a new experience for me. Incredibly, I was already a christian, and had been for about 8 years, I had known God’s voice, had a relationship with God, knew God, but I had never had that encounter with The Holy Spirit before, although I had been baptised in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. Incredible! So what was the difference? If I could speak in tongues, that meant I had the gifts of the Holy Spirit, so why didn’t I know him? I remember when I was about 12 or 13, I hadn’t long been a christian, and I remember asking God if I could speak to the Holy Spirit, as soon as I had done that, the devil gave me a picture of a dark figure with red eyes,...

Living on the outside for Jesus

By on Aug 19, 2005 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

So, why the title? Well, its funny really, something I did today made me take a look at myself and wonder, what do people see on the outside? I realised, that what is in my heart, isn’t what others see of me. In other words, my heart to serve the Lord and do Gods will and my love for Jesus isnt portrayed in my every day life. God tells us to live a life which will please Him, and that is my desire, but, like Paul, “For what I want to do, I do not do, but what I hate to do, I do” Romans 7v15 God has got alot of work to do in me, but the thing is, I am willing to let Him do it, I have known Gods pruning before, so I know what I’m in for, but whenever God brings us to a place to “prune” us, it brings us closer to Him, we can hear Him better, and we are in a better place to fulfill the plans He has for us. I have seen, tasted and experienced the...
