Defining Deity

By on Aug 6, 2012 in Blog, General | 0 comments

…Well, I’m not about to try and define deity, but I’ve just started to read John Blanchard’s ‘Does God Believe in Atheists’, and in his introduction, he explains what he means when he says God. Blanchard led up to his definition by showing that statistics or ‘opinion polls’ do not give a true representation of facts since they are too general, an example was a poll that was taken in Western European which showed 75% of those polled said they believed in God, yet when the question was asked as to whether they believed in a personal God, the figures dropped to 32%. This shows that words need definition. Voltaire (The pen-name of the French Philosopher, Francois-Marie Arouet who is the author of Candide (the best of all possible worlds…well worth a read it if you haven’t as yet)) is quoted as saying “If any man reason with...

Wives and Husbands

It isn’t generally a topic I would look at (since I’m not married), but since a similar topic came up at a Christian Forum I am a member of, I did a little study on the relationships between male and female. Gen 5:1–2 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created. So God created male and female in His own image, equally important to Him and named them man. When God created male and female, he made them: 1) Harmonious interpersonal relationships 2) Equal in personhood and importance 3) Different in role and authority The relationship between Adam and Eve were as man and wife Genesis 2:19-25 After the fall, the role of husband and wife, along with creation was corrupted: Ge 3:16 Yet your desire will be...

Cults Vs Christianity

[stextbox id="info"] First of all let me explain what I mean when I say “cults”: Cult = followers of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices. Ok, now that is out of the way…[/stextbox] I have found it interesting when looking at different religions and how they differ from the Christian beliefs. Many religious organisations can look as though they are in agreement with the beliefs of christianity, but when you look below the surface, you find that infact, the beliefs are very different. One good reason to look into what other religious organisations believe is that it leads you to the Bible, this is generally so that you can look up what scripture says and compare that to other beliefs. Some different religious believers go and knock on peoples doors to share their beliefs in the hope of converting others to lead them into their organisations, so it is...

Took You Long Enough!

You know, being a Christian sure is adventurous! I’ve been sat in my own little corner of the world just getting on with stuff, wondering when I am going to get back into that place of walking in God’s will and living as an effective part of his purposes for a number of years now. There have been times when I have almost touched it, only to wander back down my own road and continued on with whatever it was I was doing. Although I believed in my heart I always wanted to do what God wanted me to do, I realised recently, that actually, I have done the opposite! It’s amazing that we don’t always see what God is doing in our lives, but when things start to unfold, we can see that God has been doing stuff all along. For a few years now I have been self-employed and have had enough work to keep me going. Suddenly, all my clients, almost at the same time didn’t...

Living in Holiness

By on Aug 4, 2006 in General | 2 comments

I went to Faith Camp last night and heard Pastor Colin bring a message on Holiness. You know, if you have been in a place where you have not been living in holiness and you hear a message on holiness it aint alf challenging like. The funny thing is, if you have a heart for God, you want to live in holiness, you don’t want to do things that are not pleasing to God, you want to please Him and you want to glorify God in all that you do. It’s easy to want though. I realised that its easy to live your life how you want to live it, and hard to move out of it to live in holiness. Recently I posted about God giving me faith for a situation, this situation will basically bring me out of the live I am living now and into the will of God. I was all ready to move out into where God was calling me, and then a string of events happened which basically knocked me for six. Here’s the...
