I met this guy once when I was about 12 years old, I had heard
about him from a few friends. Apparently, he was a good friend to
those who knew him, and he would always make sure to look after
his pals, and his pals would always try to make sure he was ok too.
This guy seemed to attract peoples attention wherever he would
go. He always seemed to have something to say to anyone who stopped
and talked to him, and those he talked to, always took something
away with them from the conversations they had with him.
He had such a heart for people, that he would talk to anyone, regardless
of race, stature or religion. He would even talk to those who we
would probably never give the time of day.
There came a time in his life where he had to make a decision,
his friends were in trouble and needed help. Infact, they were so
much so in trouble, it was a matter of life or death, and this guy
was the only one who could do something about it. So he decided,
because he loved his friends so much, that he would take the blame
for whatever it was that they had done wrong.
Now, this was no small thing, he knew that in order to save his
friends, that he would have to suffer, yet knowing what faced him,
he was still prepared to do it. He went and made a stand for his
friends, and in doing so, he was ridiculed, beaten and eventually
put to death. Yet because he had done this, it meant his friends
could live, he had saved them through his death so that they might
have life.
Who am I taking about? Well, his name is Jesus. Jesus
died so that man could live. He suffered the sins
of man, so that he could give man life. And who are the friends
he died for? YOU. He loved you so much that he
knew the only way you could live, was through his death. Imagine
that, God's son dying for you.
This life was not only for the people at that time, but for all
people throughout all generations. I met him when I was 12, yet
he gave his life thousands of years ago. How can this be? Because
Jesus is no longer dead, he is alive, and because of this, we can
have life too, eternal life.
So, how did I meet him? That's easy, I only had to ask. Jesus said,
anyone who comes to me shall have
eternal life and have it in all its fullness.
My friends, if you don't know Jesus, then now is the time that you
need to make a decision, just as Jesus did when he decided to give
his life up so that you could live.
No one on this earth could find any guilt in him, yet he was put
to death. He knew this would need to happen so that you could have
life. He knew he would be beaten, he
did it for you, he knew he would be whipped so much
so that his flesh would be torn, he
did it for you, each nail that went through his
hands and his feet, he did it for
you, every bit of blood that was shed, he
did it for you, whilst he was hanging on the cross
waiting to die, he was thinking of YOU!
Jesus did it so you could know his love for you, he loved you so
much that he wanted
to do it. Who among us would have done that? Who among us knowing
the pain and suffering we would have to go through would give up
our lives so that others could live? And even to the people who
did these things to him, he still loved and forgave, and he is willing
to forgive you, you only need to ask and mean it with all of your
heart, and you will receive that life he gave you through his death.
All you need to do is ask him, he's
waiting…
