There are a number of reasons why theories spring up regarding the creation and age of the earth. Scientists have discovered that the earth must be at least 4.5 billion years old and the universe is around 14 billion years old. Controversy is provoked because the bible teaches that the earth was created in 6 days; this would work out to around 6000 years ago, therefore many believed that the earth is only 6000 years old, however, scientific evidence does not agree.
