Proverbs 2:1-6

I was just browsing around and read, "What is your favourite Bible scripture". Well, I kind of pondered for a moment and thought, well, it's difficult to pick out just one, but what I can do, is pick a scripture that is full of meaning. The first time I came across this scripture, I read it, and I could see so much in it.

You know when you buy something that is new to you and you are not sure how to work it, you pick up the instructions to guide you.  Well, I have heard that saying that The Bible is like an instruction book to guide you in your walk with God, well, this scripture was like the "Quick start instructions" kind of thing. It was kind of like a quick guide, yet the meaning of it runs deep.
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.  Proverbs 2:1-6

I would love to hear someone preach on that and elaborate on it, because there is just so much "chunkiness" (is there such a word?) in it.

Anyway, that's the scripture that I thought of when I looked at the initial question.

  1. Nicky,
You've chosen an excellent 'favorite'. It trumps mine. (1 Corinthians 10:31, "
So then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you may do, do all for the honor and glory of God.") Because yours actually contains the instructions on 'How to' do all to the glory of God... I am going to have to co-opt into my 'favorites'. Thanks for an insightful post...

    In Christ,
