Living on the outside for Jesus

So, why the title? Well, its funny really, something I did today made me take a look at myself and wonder, what do people see on the outside? I realised, that what is in my heart, isn't what others see of me. In other words, my heart to serve the Lord and do Gods will and my love for Jesus isnt portrayed in my every day life. God tells us to live a life which will please Him, and that is my desire, but, like Paul,
"For what I want to do, I do not do, but what I hate to do, I do"

Romans 7v15

God has got alot of work to do in me, but the thing is, I am willing to let Him do it, I have known Gods pruning before, so I know what I'm in for, but whenever God brings us to a place to "prune" us, it brings us closer to Him, we can hear Him better, and we are in a better place to fulfill the plans He has for us.

I have seen, tasted and experienced the wilderness, and although, miraculously God bought me to the place where I could truly thank Him for it (Believe me, if someone else told me to thank God and rejoice in all things relating to being in the wilderness, well, I don't know what my reaction to them would be, only God can bring you to that place, and He brings you to it by revelation!) I know I didn't come through it unscathed and I know the life I lived was not pleasing to God, but, God is faithful, and I know He is bringing me out and setting me on the path of righteousness with Him (Funny how you know when God is working in your life, it's a wonderful place to be), but although I am in a better place in Christ than I was, I know there is a few bits and pieces and rummaging God needs to do to get me right with Him, He loves me anyway, I'm just keeping Him busy ;) (What a cheeky thing to say hey! Gods got a great sense of humour tho, He must have, He gave me one too!).
"I Beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Romans 12v1-2

Do not be conformed to this world. - When you are in a place where you are struggling, its easy to rebel against God and live as the world lives, but the thing is, soon enough, it becomes your normal way of life, to you it could be "just getting on with things" but because you can't look at things from a spiritual perspective, you don't notice so much the life you are living, and sin becomes more acceptable, or things we shouldn't do, don't seem as bad as they probably are. Your lifestyle changes and you fall further and further away from God, and believe me, its only by His Grace, that He brings you back, and when He does, that's when He shows you that the life you are living is not acceptable and things need to change (it's not quite rocket science to know where I am in all that).

But be transformed by the renewing of your mind - Mind = Attitude. Your attitude to sin changes when you fall from Gods presence, as I said, things don't seem as harmful as you once thought, you are less convicted of sin and learn to live with things you should not be living with. Therefore, your attitude needs to be righteous in order to please God. If your attitude changes, so does the way you live your life, and if your mind is transformed so that you see things as God see's them, your attitude to sin changes and in effect, your lifestyle will change because you will not be able to live the life you once did. (Are you getting this?)

If I can look at myself and know that people I come across in my everyday life, work colleagues, people on the street and my family do not see Jesus in me, then I know things need to change. I need God to point these things out to me and help me work through it so that what is in my heart for God, is portrayed in my everyday life. If this can happen, then so can miracles and people can be won for Jesus, because It is not I that live, but Christ that lives in me. Thats it folks, Christ that lives in me, For me to live is Christ, to die is gain..

God is Faithful and true to His word! Praise God! And thank God for giving us The Holy Spirit so that we can learn from Him and understand these things. I'm so much in love with my father God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit!
