For me to live is Christ, to die, is gain

I was sat at work this afternoon, and for some unknown reason Philippians 1v21 came to me.
For me to live is Christ, to die, is gain.

I had no idea what that meant "For me to live, is Christ" It didn't seem logical english to me, so I had it in my mind all day wondering what it meant.

Sometimes when we read things in the Bible, we don't fully grasp what we have just read, we need The Holy Spirit to give us the revelation or the interpretation of what it actually means.

Well, this scripture came right out of the blue, so I know God was trying to tell me something , so I needed to understand what it meant so I could understand what God was saying, infact, I think I kind of knew, but couldn't at that time arrange the words in my mind to fully grasp it. But God is patient and willing to help me understand. Anyway, this is now what I believe God was saying:

For me to live is Christ.

Basically, as Christians, we should know that we dont live our lives without purpose and we dont live our lives as we please. When we asked Jesus to come into our lives, it meant we entered into a partnership, we set out on a journey to know Jesus more and not to live our lives for ourselves, but to be obedient to God in whatever He requests of us. (I'm fumbling to get the words out so they make sense).

When Paul wrote his letter to "all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi" Philippians 1v1, (and he was kind enough to mention the bishops and deacons), he was basically telling them that he had given up his own life to live a life of faith in Christ, so whatever he did, meant he did it in obedience to God, this meant that his life was in Christ, therefore, to Paul, to live, IS Christ. (catch my drift? I think I'm getting there). So basically, if we forget ourselves, our own concerns, our own plans and wants, and focus on Jesus and live the life He wants us to live, our lives become Christs, so Jesus is always the focus.

To offer more understanding we read in Galatians 2v20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me and the life I live which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

Therefore, if we have been crucified, then basically we are dead, so the only way we can live, is in Christ, therefore, life is Christ (Is this making sense?) God can live without us, yet we cannot live without God. When we gave our lives to Jesus, we basically told him we have let go of the way we want to run our lives and follow Him and obey Him in the way HE wants us to live our lives whilst we are still upright living on the earth, so not my will, but Gods. I think God might be trying to tell me to give up the fleshly things in my life because I have no right to them, I gave up my rights when I gave my life to God, therefore, it's up to me to find out what God is wanting to do and where He is wanting to lead me, but before that can happen, I need to put to death the things that are not of him - remember what I wrote before, having a relationship with Jesus means making sacrifices, and that means sacrifices to the flesh in the sense of things I do which are not Glorifying to God.

Well, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. If our hearts are to follow God, then we will do whatever it takes to enable us to do that, it is my heart to do God's will, therefore, in Him, I will make every effort to stop the things I do which He doesn't want me to do.

So I say Yes Lord.

On a side note, to die is gain, means we will be in heaven with Jesus, so we are gaining more of Him. Funnily enough, I knew what this bit meant. :0)

Isnt it fantastic that God speaks to us and teaches us and leads us and guides us into ALL the truth! Praise His Holy Name! Thank you Jesus.
